The idea of free university is controversial. It continues to divide communities around the world. I most certainly believe that university should not be free. Free university is unfair for past students, will cost tax payers billions and promotes a culture of handouts. Others may suggest that education is a right and it should be free. This naïve perspective must be condemned.
Previous students have studied hard, achieved their degrees and paid their way. To suggest university should be free is insulting to anyone who has paid for their education. Working summers, doing overtime, paying student loans are all sacrifices that past students have made. Why should young adults today get a free ride when those in the past have not?
